What to Expect
1.
Assessment
The psychiatric assessment starts by listening to your unique concerns. Throughout the assessment, themes will be identified to help develop a diagnosis and treatment plan. Further assessment or testing may be needed.
2.
Diagnosis
Once the assessment is complete - the diagnosis and factors contributing to how you are feeling will be discussed. The risks and benefits of available treatment options will be reviewed.
3.
Treatment Plan
This will include therapeutic interventions or referrals and if needed, medications, for a variety of psychiatric conditions in a caring, private, and non-judgemental atmosphere.
4.
Therapy
The research is clear - when medication is necessary, the best outcomes are achieved when it is paired with psychotherapy. All appointments include supportive therapy. However, any therapy will complement, rather than replace, the support of a licensed therapist. For the best results, there may be collaboration with your primary therapist or other members of your care team to offer a coordinated care plan.
Therapy 'only' referrals are also available.
